Office Supervisors Called to Serve with Integrity
Participants at the Office Supervisors' Annual Meeting

All office supervisors from all court stations countrywide held their annual meeting for FY 2022/2023 at the Judicial Training Institute (JTI) in Nakawa, Kampala. 

The annual meeting was flagged off by the Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Judiciary, Dr Puis Bigirimana, who stressed the importance of office supervisors at their work stations. "You are the Permanent Secretaries in the areas you manage. You represent me in terms of management and if you do it correctly, I get the credit and if you do not do it wrongly, you get the blame," he said 

The PS/SJ noted that the meeting was timely as it would help in sensitizing the new officers who had been newly recruited. And that it would also help evaluate their performance in the previous Financial Year as well plan for the new year.

He emphasized the need for office supervisors to be creative and innovative. "Think about solutions to situations that come and try to be responsible when doing so," Dr Bigirimana said.

He concluded by emphasizing that office supervisors should be people of integrity and working hard and to ensure that their premises are clean.

The Under Secretary/Finance and Administration, Ms Maureen Kasande said shared that in the approved structure, there are positions for 82 office supervisors. "We have 146 courts and so far we are not doing badly in terms of office supervisors," she said.

She also said that such engagements help in capacity-building and also team-building. Ms Kasande expressed the need to hold similar meetings for different cadre of staff as well.

The officers were taken through Government of Uganda Asset Management Framework, Performance Management &Code of Conduct in Public Service, Leadership, Administration and Management and a discussion on operational issues at courts.

The Principal Assistant Secretary, Mr Sulaiman Hirome, moderated the meeting.
